Adaptive Traffic Management

Cities around the world have a lot of problems with the transport system because they are designed and engineered for a certain number of vehicles and infrastructure facilities especially old city centres.

The rapid centralization and expansion of the use of passenger cars as the main means of transport lead to huge congestion in urban parts of cities, so it is necessary to more efficiently define and harmonize the traffic of passenger cars, pedestrians, public transport, etc.

ITS strives to raise service levels to a higher level by using information and communication to improve flow, safety, efficiency, and reduce the negative environmental impact. Intelligent transport systems in cities have an extremely high operating factor due to the fact that in a relatively small spatial coverage they must offer alternative solutions for better and more efficient transport, all to reduce congestion, noise, environmental pollution, etc.

Intelligent transport systems are, in layman's terms, methods, and tools used to manage systems that use information and communication as the main entities in complex systems. They are used in various spheres and levels of management as an alternative to infrastructure expansion, where it has been proven that intelligent management can more easily, securely, and efficiently contribute to the development of the system and increase its efficiency.

ITS is a management and information-communication upgrade of the classic transport system with significant improvements for network operators, service providers, users, and society as a whole. Adaptive management is a method of system management based on independent adaptation to external system changes, building a modern adaptive traffic management and control system includes components of an intelligent management system with priorities of public line passenger transport, video surveillance system, and video incident detection, based on the latest technologies which requires a lot of effort and experience, long-term planning, and professional management.

BS Husky's central management system consists of several modules, each of which performs specific tasks (traffic management, video surveillance - BS Husky video surveillance, video incident detection - BS Husky Incident Detection System). These modules are closely integrated both in terms of database and in terms of the user interface so that none of the modules is an isolated system. In this way, it is possible that all data (events, measurements, alarms, etc.) processed by the central control system from any of the modules are stored in a common database, and displayed on a single user interface for the operator. In addition to this type of integration, modules also have the option of automatic actions, where the behaviour of one module is determined by an event from another module.

BS Husky is able to integrate with different types/brands of intersection controllers and collect traffic data. Base on that data it can perform optimization of:

  • traffic flows
  • green light times
  • priorities
  • green wave corridor
  • area traffic

and send that information to controllers. Based on controller’s capability it can fully or partially utilize that data in order to perform optimal traffic flows. BS Husky is based on a proven, customizable and modular product platform that can be expanded according to future needs and technological capabilities.
